We, Maria Kyriacou & Associates LLC (hereinafter “the Chambers”), are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy notice describes the ways in which we and our Associates collect, manage, process, store and share information about you as a result of you visiting our website or using our services and your rights and your control over the use of your data.

We offer legal services to national and international organisations and institutions, SMEs and private individuals. We collect and manage data as an integral part of our services. In doing so, we follow the data protection laws in Cyprus, and are committed to protecting and respecting the privacy and rights of clients’ and non-clients’.

Our Chambers acts as its own data controller responsible for protecting your personal information in relation to the provision of its services.

To provide services to you, but depending upon the nature of the requested services, we or our Associates may need to collect personal data that may include special categories of personal data about you. All the information held about you is provided by you or by others acting on your behalf or on your instructions.

Data Processing

We process personal and non-personal data collected by us and our Associates. We process this data as required for the purposes of administering the cases and projects in which we and any of our Associates are  engaged where we may advise or assist. If you have any issues with processing of this data you should contact and inform accordingly the Associate concerned,  before dispatching or delivering said data to us or the Associate.

We will only process your information:

  • with your Consent
  • in order to perform a contract with you or to take steps to enter into a contract
  • in order to comply with a legal obligation e.g. anti-money laundering, KYC regulations imposed by the Cyprus Bar Association or Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, reporting possible criminal acts or threats to public security
  • to protect your vital interests in connection with a matter about which you have requested services.

How your information will be used

We or our Associates will use your information to:

  • provide services
  • process or support payments
  • direct your enquiries to the appropriate Associate or employee
  • investigate and address your concerns
  • communicate with you about services
  • investigate or address legal proceedings relating to your use of our services.

  • Companies, professional advisers and persons appointed or engaged by you in respect of the same matter
  • Law enforcement officials, government authorities, regulators or other third parties as necessary to meet legal obligations

Retaining Your Personal Data

Your personal data will be retained while you remain a client, unless you request that it be deleted.

Your information will be deleted or anonymized at your request unless:

  • the lawful basis for collecting your data is continuing
  • We or an Associate are currently engaged with you in connection to a case or project, or the matter has not yet finally completed or there is an unresolved issue, such as claim or dispute
  • we are required to by law to retain your data, or
  • there are overriding legitimate business interests, including but not limited to fraud prevention and protecting clients’ safety and security.

Privacy and Protection

We take appropriate security measures to safeguard your personal information from unauthorized use and disclosure. In this regard, we ensure that our computer systems are constantly maintained and updated with the latest data security protection measures (including firewalls, anti-virus software, etc.) by qualified independent IT professionals.

Your Rights

The General Data Protection Regulation and the Law providing for the Protection of Natural Persons with regard to the Processing of Personal Data and for the Free Movement of such Data give you specific rights regarding your personal data.

In particular, your rights are:

  • a right of access to a copy of the information comprised in your personal data
  • a right to object to processing that is likely to cause or is causing damage or distress, and
  • a right in certain circumstances to have inaccurate personal data rectified, blocked, erased or destroyed.

You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or anonymisation or a copy of your information data held by the Chambers or its Associates by contacting us.
